BEAMER, James
In Service of Local Companies Since 1871, Ill 13 Weeks
After an illness of 13 weeks, James Beamer, a resident of Detroit for 45 years and an employee of the Western Union Telegraph and the Michigan State Telephone companies here since 1871, died at 11;15 o'clock Saturday morning at his home, 281 Avery avenue. Death was due to a complication of diseases. Mr. Beamer, who was 69 years old, started work with the telegraph company as a lineman. After the telephone came into general use, he was for 20 years superintendent of construction for the corporation now known as the Michigan State Telephone company. Up to last fall, when he retired on a pension, Mr. Beamer was for eight years a member of the advisory board of the telephone company.
Mr. and Mrs. Beamer's forty-ninth wedding anniversary was June 11. Mrs. Beamer, a daughter, Miss Rosemond Beamer, and a son, Philip S. Beamer, survive. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the family residence. Burial will be in Woodmere cemetery.
