They had 7 children.
Ike was the first person to be prosecuted under the Lindberg act. The reason being is that his first child, Nellie, was taken by her Grandmother Rose when her daughter Mary died. Ike did not know where his daughter was and searched for her. When he found her he took her on weekends and back to her Grandmother during the week. But finding that Rose did not have the funds to raise Nellie, Ike kept her and Rose said that Nellie had been kidnapped. That is why he was prosecuted. But did win, against the prosecution, and was able to take Nellie home to his new wife Ida to be raised. Nellie stated that Ida was a wonderful step-mother to her.
I have also been told that Ike's Mother, Bell, use to say prayers for everyone and it was very beautiful the way that she did it.
Ike would say that his Mother, Bell, was part Indian.
You will find that the Vaughan's changed their surname many times back and forth. From Vaughn to Vaughan and back to Vaughn again. You will find the name interchangeable many times. I use the surname that they were "born" with.
