Plattsburgh — Dora Van Heuverzwyn, 77, of Seneca Drive, Plattsburgh, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with her loving family by her side. Dora fought a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Chazy, Jan. 26, 1935 the daughter of Nelson C., Sr. and Grace (Parrott) Baker.
Dora was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was fondly referred to as Meme by all those who knew her. Her lifelong dedication was to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dora enjoyed crocheting and was a longtime volunteer with the Salvation Army.
Survivors include her loving husband, James T. Van Heuverzwyn of Plattsburgh; one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl Belrose and her husband Michael of Plattsburgh; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Barcomb and his wife Brenda of Plattsburgh, and James Barcomb and his wife Heidi of Plattsburgh; grandchildren, Amy Stoller and husband Jeff, Jason Santor and wife Shelia, Heather Brodi and husband John, Jessica Barcomb, Linda Barcomb and fiance Jeremy Davis, Michael Barcomb, Krista Barcomb, Nathan Barcomb, Ashley Barcomb, MaCullen Cope, and Rayya Barcomb; great-grandchildren, Jordan Haynes, Kaitlyn Meachum, Alyssa Meachum, Haddan Barcomb, Evan Stoller, Ashlyn Santor, Alie Brodi, Gracelyn Barcomb, and Cole Brodi; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Charles Harvey of Barnstead, N.H.; one sister-in-law, Catherine Baker of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; sons, William George Barcomb, and Thomas Edward Barcomb; and siblings, Laura Gadway, Russell Baker, Robert Baker, and Nelson Baker, Jr.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Parker, officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the Ingraham Cemetery in Ingraham, N.Y.
Donations in her memory may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center, 75 Beekman Street, Plattsburgh.
Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru.
