Alice M. Stern, 92, of Columbia, formerly of New Holland, died Sunday, January 6 at Susquehanna Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert E. Stern in 1997.

Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Rueben and Ethel (Ford) Snow.

Alice had been employed by the former Zausner's Cheese in New Holland and was a member of St. Stephen United Church of Christ. She was also a former member of the Samuel Fear Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and the Blue Ball Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed Bingo, reading, and crossword puzzles.

Surviving are six children: Ronald L. married to Joyce (Rupp) Stern, New Holland; A. Ann married to Clyde Brubaker, New Holland; Linda M. married to J. Richard Wentzel, Arlington, TX; Carol J. married to Richard D. Hawkins, Opelika, AL; Dawn M. married to Leo J. Smith, Columbia, and Gwen L. Thompson, Narvon, 20 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.

She was the last of her immediate family.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 9 at 2 pm at the Beck Funeral Home, 315 E. Main St., New Holland. Interment will be in St. Stephen U. C. C. Cemetery. A viewing will be held at Beck's on Wednesday from 1 to 2 pm. Online condolences may be posted on our website, www.beckfuneral.com.
