Major League Baseball Player. He was a catcher and first baseman, making his debut for the Philadelphia Athletics on May 1, 1884. For ten seasons, he played with the Philadelphia Athletics (1884-87, 1890-91), St. Louis Browns (1888-89), Washington Senators (1892), Baltimore Orioles (1893) and New York Giants (1893). He ended his career with a record of 848 hits, 440 runs scored, 49 home runs, 497 runs batted in and a .286 batting average.
