Walter Aufderhaar, 88, 320 Market St., St. Marys, died at 2:08 a.m. July 13, 2003, at his residence.
He was born March 5, 1915 in Moulton to William and Margaret Roediger Aufderhaar. On Feb. 2, 1947, he married Margaret Henkener, who survives at the residence.
Also surviving are two sons: Jim (Sue), Columbus, Ron (Diane), Botkins, a daughter, Joyce Aufderhaar, St. Marys; a sister, Esther Sandridge, Greenfield, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Ervin and Norman; three sisters, Martha Palm, Dorothy Diamond and Leona Painter; two infant brothers; and two great-grandchildren.
He attended Country School, Moulton, and Wapakoneta High School. He was a United States Army veteran, having served in Guadalcanal and the Northern Solomans. He was a member of VFW Post 9289, American Legion Heiland Post 446, Anna. He enjoyed playing cards, golfing, hunting and fishing.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paulís United Church of Christ, St. Marys, with the Rev. David Hunt officiating. Burial is at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.
Calling is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, where memorial donations may be directed to the church.
