March 30, 1968:

Luther Oliver Rogers, 69, of Hunter Road, Harrison, a retired employee from the furniture department of Miller Bros. Co., died suddenly Thursday night in a local hospital.

A native of Marion County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late John H. Rogers and Mary Richie Rogers. He had been a resident of Hamilton County for 50 years and was a member of the Lakewood Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Nora Cagle Rogers; two daughters, Mrs. Harry Mathis and Miss Evelyn Rogers, and a son, Paul L. Rogers, all of Harrison; three brothers, James Rogers, Clarence Rogers, Carroll Rogers, all of Chattanooga; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Grant, Fortsville, Ky; Mrs. Sallye Royal, Burlington, N.C.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Lakewood Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Cravens officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are by Turner Funeral Home.
