EVERETT AKERMAN

Everett Dana Akerman, 80, of Findlay, passed away at 9:15 p.m. Friday, Dec 19, 2003 at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

E. D. was born May 16, 1923 in Grover Hill to James Everett and Faye (Uhlenhaker) Akerman and they preceded him in death. In Nov. 1942, he married Lola Reha Smith. He married Lola's twin Lulu Reva on June 26, 1953 after Lola died during childbirth and Lulu survives.

Of Lulu and E.D.'s eight children, six survive. They are Nancy Blackford Siferd, North Canton; Diane Akerman Phillips, Findlay; Beverly Blackford Tincher, North Miami, Florida; Susan Blackford Hurst, Little Rock, Ark.; Reha Akerman Smith, El Dorado, Ariz.; and David Akerman, Hot Springs, Ariz. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; two brothers John of Findlay; and Bill of Mt. Blanchard; and a sister, Naomi Tesnow, Findlay.

Preceding him in death are two brothers, Ray and Gene; two sons Randall and William; and a grandson, Kenny Phillips.

E.D. was a longtime and honored employee of Cooper Tire beginning in general utility work at the Findlay plant. He also worked at the Auburn, Ind., and El Dorado, Ariz., plants, rising to the position of plant superintendent. He retires in 1984 and returned to Findlay in 1985.

Mr. Akerman was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. As a sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII, he served in Belgium, France and Germany, including the Battle of Ardennes and the Battle of the Bulge. He earned two Bronze Stars.

Funeral services were held at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay. Interment was in Lee Cemetery, Amanda Twp.
