Tyler Lewis Emerson, born January 27, 1921, Philadelphia, PA, died June 28, 2003, Naples, FL. She was the wife of Henry Truxtun Emerson, Jr.. She was a graduate of Westover School Middleburry, CT, Class of 1939, and a lifelong volunteer. During World War II she served as assistant to the planning officer, U.S. Marine Naval Aviation Supply Corp., Philadelphia, PA. She also served with the SE Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross from 1940-46 and received a National Certificate of Merit for more than 5000 hours of volunteer war-time service. In the Cincinnati Chapter of the Red Cross she served on the disaster and nursing services committees. Additionally, she served as Vice-Chairman of Volunteer Services Groups and was acting Chairman 1952-53. Her volunteer service continued through 1974.

She was a member of Junior League, both in Cincinnati and Philadelphia; a founding member of the Indian Hill Episcopal-Presbyterian Church; Founder and first president of the Indian Hill Historical Museum Association; member of: the Daughters of the Cincinnati; served on the Board of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in Ohio; Indian Hill Garden Club Vice President 1956-1959; Town and Country Garden Club, President 1959-61; the Garden Club of America where she served as National Parks Chairman 1965-66 and Bulletin Zone Chairman 1961-1964. She is survived by her husband H. Truxton Emerson, Jr.; her children Thomas Truxton, Louisa Blake and Nathaniel Whittier Emerson and two granddaughters Edith Tyler and Frances Alexander Emerson.
