Madge Lambert and Opla Rowe are daughters. Isa Bratt Bell, Emma's sister, died shortly after the birth of her son, John Francis Bell. Emma raised John as her own.

Excerpt--age 87, of Independence, died Sat. at her home. Born at Independence Feb. 23, 1877, a d/o John F. and Martha Huffman Bratt. Her husband, James Ernest Squires, preceded her in death in 1949. Surviving are two sons, Joe of Los Angeles, Calf., and James Henry at home; a foster son, John F. Bell of Core; three daughters, Mrs. Madge Lambert of Independence, Mrs. Opal Rowe of Fairmont, and Miss. Nellie Squires at home; one sister, Mrs. Matilda (Tillie) Knicely of Alexandria, Va.; 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren. Burial was in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery, Newburg.
