John Gustavus Perry is the third of five known children of William Perry and his first wife Sarah (LNU). No further information is known regarding his mother Sarah other than when she is shown in the deed as William and Sarah sell land in Jones County, GA on 2 Feb 1815. Her burial place remains unknown. Please contact me if you have further information.

John G. Perry is said to have been born either in Washington, Webster or Jones County, GA. There is also variation in what is published as his birth and death dates. If anyone has actual substantiation for when and where he was born, please contact me. It is more likely Washington County, GA as his father is shown as 'of' Washington Co., GA when he purchased land in Jones County, GA in 1807.

On May 26, 1831 in Crawford County, GA, John G. Perry married Cassandra Holloman, daughter of Eaton Holloman b. 1772 and his wife Sarah Dixon/Dickson b. 1793.

There is a published list of burials for this cemetery that includes birth and death dates. However, it is provable that at least some of the dates on their list are not correct. For John Perry, it lists: "John G. Perry, born July 1, 1806, died Dec. 11, 1853" which is proven incorrect as the exact death date is listed in the courthouse records of the Minutes of Open Court in Stewart Co, GA.

Recorded at the Stewart County Courthouse:
Last Will & Testament of John G. Perry - Stewart Co., Ga. - Written March 2, 1848 - Recorded 27th day of January, 1851 - J. S. Wimberly C.C.O. [provided by Norma Johnston]

Other places list more obviously incorrect dates. However, his EXACT Death Date of 18 Nov 1850 is given within Stewart Co. GA Court records in a motion to set aside his will because it did not include a daughter born after the will was written. [provided by Lindy Hard]

This death date here is additionally supported in that he died prior to the final settlement of his father William Perry's estate, as the final settlement sum was paid to the administrator of John Perry's estate:
