He died on 21 Oct 1861 at The Battle of Ball's Bluff, Leesburg, Virginia, "He was never seen afterwards and was presumed killed in action or drowned during retreat."
He was 21 years and 26 days old.
In 1890 his mother received a pension based on George's service.
