11/13/1879 - Atlanta Constitution - Bernard Mallon - Arrival of his Remains and the Funeral Today - Last night at 11 o'clock, the remains of Professor Bernard Mallon, former superintendent of public schools in Atlanta arrived by the Western and Atlantic road, in charge of Mr. Mallon, of Cincinnati, brother of the deceased. A large number of citizens met the remains at the depot and escorted them to the High School building where they lay last night attended by several gentlemen. The demonstration last night showed what a real grief was felt here on account of the death of perhaps the most popular man who was ever in Atlanta.

The funeral ceremonies will take place this morning in the city hall park at 11 o'clock; after which the body will be conveyed to Oakland cemetery and deposited in its final resting place.

All the friends of the deceased are invited to attend and to join in the procession.

The public schools will be suspended by order of the board of education and the teachers and pupils are expected to be present in bodies representing their respective schools.

The children of the grammar schools who desire to attend the ceremonies at the park will meet in their respective school rooms at 9 o'clock and proceed under the direction of their teachers to their appointed places.

The board of education, the teachers, and the pupils of the high schools will march in procession to the cemetery, but the children of the grammar schools, after the conclusion of the services at the park, under the supervision of their teachers, will be dismissed to their homes or to the care of their parents.

The graduates and former pupils of both high schools are requested to assemble at their respective schools at 10 o'clock.
