Canadian jurist, author and lecturer. A native of Montréal (Québec), he studied Law at McGill University and was admitted to the Bar of the Province of Québec in August 1863. He received his doctorate in Law in 1879. The Québec Bar owes him its reorganization in the years 1860 and the creation of its first Roll of lawyers in 1867. In 1871, he began teaching Law at McGill University. On December 2, 1858, he had joined “L’Institut Canadien de Montréal”, a body where he served first as a member of the board in 1859 and later as President, in 1871. Alongside his brother Joseph, he was a prominent figure in the conflict between “L’Institut Canadien de Montréal” and Bishop Bourget of Montréal regarding the burying on sacred ground of fellow “L’Institut” comrade Joseph Guibord. He was the author of several publications of which “Les Lois de Procédure civile dans la Province de Québec “, in 1869, and “Le droit civil canadien suivant l'ordre établi par les codes”, with the help of Edmond Lareau, in 1872. He passed away in his hometown.
