Melvin (M. L.) Luther Floyd, 69, of Dallas died Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997, at his home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Rhoades of Millbrook Baptist Church of Lancaster officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday prior to the service.

Mr. Floyd was born July 9, 1928, in the Shady Grove community to Earl Kelley and Lillian Whitten Floyd. He attended schools in Pattonville and graduated from Deport High School. He was a member of Creekside Baptist Church in Canton and a former member of the Mesquite Masonic Lodge. He retired in 1980 from the insulation business where he was an asbestos worker and insulator.
