Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the White Lily Baptist Church for Pinkney Green Hargis, 76, who died at the Somerset City Hospital early Thursday morning. The Rev. Lonnie Meece officiated. Burial was in the White Lily Cemetery.

Mr. Hargis' death came after an illness of several months. He was a veteran of the Spanish American War and was well known throughout the county. He had engaged in farming most of his life and was an industrious and useful citizen. He was a devoted husband and father and a good neighbor. His thoughtfulness of others and friendliness will long be remembered. He was a loyal member of the White Lily Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Hargis; four sons, Leonard and Albert Hargis, of Ruth, Fred Hargis, of Lockland, Ohio, and Lewis Hargis, of Asheville, N.C.; and three daughters, Mrs. Nelson Bradley, of Ruth, Mrs. Cyrus Dykes, of Dykes, and Miss Rosie Hargis, of Ruth.

Among those from out of town here for the funeral of Mr. Pinkney Hargis Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hargis and sons, Freddie and Lewis, of Lockland, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hargis and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hargis and daughter, Sandra, of Asheville, N.C.; Mrs. Lyman Murphy, Mrs. Morris Love and J.S. Hines, Jr., of Norwood, Ohio.
