Mrs. Lydia Tubbs, 92, widow of William Tubbs, died last night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Crisenberry, residing at 2400 South A. street, of infirmities of age and complications after an illness of about eight years.
She was the daughter of George and Mary Nicholas and was born in Henry county February 15, 1846.
On April 23, 1873, she was united in marriage to William Tubbs. Seven children were born to this union. Mr. Tubbs, a Civil War veteran, died June 10, 1912.
Mrs. Tubbs had resided here forty years. She was a member of the East Main Street Christian Church.
Surviving are six children, Mrs. Crisenberry, George and Oscar Tubbs, all of Elwood; Frank Engle, of Gary; Mrs. Daisy Merrr, Bunker Hill, and Mrs. Clement Nickols, of New Carlile, and one brother Samuel Nicholas, of Lincoln, Ind.
The body was removed to the Clark Chapel to be prepared for burial. Tomorrow morning it will be returned to the residence of the daughter. Private funeral services for immediate friends and relatives will be conducted at the daughter's home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. V. Hiyes Miller, pastor of the Christian Church, in charge. Burial will follow in the city cemetery.
