She starred in films like Frenzy in 1944 and came to England to play Frieda in 1947. Her film credits include, "Portrait from Life" in 1948, "The Lost People" in 1949, "Quartet" in 1948, "The Romantic Age" in 1949, "A Prize of Gold" in 1955, "Seven Waves Away" in 1956, "Knock on Wood" in 1954, "Only Two Can Play" in 1961, "The Witches" in 1989 and in "Hidden Agenda" in 1990. She directed the Swedish "Night Games" in 1966 and "Scrubbers" in 1982, and "Handmade," about young female offenders sent to Borstal. She was married and divorced with Tutte Samuel Lemkow and writer David Hughes, with whom she co-wrote the screenplay of the short film "The Wargame" (1962), which she directed.
