Daughter of John & Ellen (Kennedy) Bell she was born somewhere in Canada, perhaps a military base that her father was stationed at and upon his retirement from the British Army as a musician with the Royal Canadian Rifles the Bells settled in Maitland Ellen's hometown.

The 1880 Census list Ellen and Annie Bell as music teachers. John had died a few years earlier and soon there after the ladies emmigrated to South Berwick, Maine working in facotry setting . They later moved to Portland, Annie started off as a factory worker, later became an office girl and then retired to be a music teacher.

Like her mother, Annie was active in St. Paul's Episcopal Parish. She died at age 77 and her funeral rites conducted at the famous Martin Chapel in the Old St. Paul's Anglican Church of Portland. Her mortal remains rest alongside her beloved mother.
