Anna E. Dobbs, 71 of Rockford died Thursday Dec. 19, 1996 in Saint Anthony Medical Center, after a brief illness. Born May 10, 1925 in Walnut Ridge, Ark., to Jasper and Lunia Mosier Whitmire. Married Chester Dobbs in Bono, Ark., May 17, 1941. Employed several years by Saint Anthony School of Nursing before retiring in 1987. Member of Eastside Church of Christ. Survivors include husband, Chester; sons, Ron (Joan) Dobbs of Machesney Park, Jerry (Sarah) Dobbs of Waldorf, Md., Ricky (Gina) Dobbs and Jeff (Leeann) Dobbs of Rockford; daughters, Melba Birmingham of Rockford, Cheryl Porter of Fort Meyers, Fla., Patsy (Robert) Taylor of Garland, Texas, Peggy (William) Lawrence of Rockford and Kathy Ollivotti of Loves Park; 24 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Charlie Whitmire of Rockford and Gerald Whitmire of Portia, Ark.; sisters Mildred Dawson of Rockford, Marie Ervin of Walnut Ridge and Kathleen Land of Las Vegas, Nev.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; daughter, Kimberly Diane; brothers, Ralph Eugene Whitmire and Jasper Whitmire Jr.; and son-in-law Charles Birmingham.
