Joseph J Daugherty was born in Ohio, After 1860, he travelled with his parents and siblings to Mercer County, Missouri. He married three times: (1) to Phoebe Jane Retherford about 1875 in Mercer or Putnam County. The 1880 census shows Joe with wife Phoebe, and daughters Eliza and Cora Belle. also his uncle Sidwell. Phoebe died 23 Apr 1884 in Mercer County, Mo. Joseph then married (2)Mary Lois Hurlburt abt 1884 and had five children, as shown in the 1900 census. Probably about 1895, they moved to Lafayette County, Mo. Their children were: Charlie, Odessa, Harvey, Annie, and Ora. Mary seems to have died by 1912, as Joseph then marries (3)Ida Mae Hackett Harrington. I have taken an interest in the family because I am doubly related: Joseph's uncle Sidwell is my great-great-grandfather, and Mary Lois Hurlburt is my great-grandmother's sister.
