Gregory V. Burton, 63, of Grand Prairie, passed away on January 5, 2013, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at DFW National Cemetery with Rev. James Heffington Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7pm to 9pm at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home Belt Line Road Chapel.
Greg was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to the late Vincent Fisher and Ethel Virginia (Williams) Burton. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1972. Following graduation, Greg enlisted in the US Air Force and received his Pilot Training in 1973 at Williams Air Force Base. He then went on to be an Instructor Pilot at Webb Air Force Base, and then as a Pilot flying T-39's at Langley Air Force Base. Greg went to work for Southwest Airlines in April 1979 and became a Captain in March 1982. He remained with Southwest Airlines for 33 years.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Nancy Burton; nephew, Eric Dorton and his wife Christina and their son, Frank of Denton; nephew, Riley Dorton of Austin; sister, Becky Greenwade of Huntsville; mother-in-law, Emily Easley of Big Spring; and Ed Skillern of Kerrville.
