Robert Urquhart Burgess, 81, died peacefully surrounded by his wife and four children on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at Inspirations in St. Charles. He was born September 11, 1930, in Geneva, IL.

Robert grew up on Army Trail Road; boasted of attending Little Woods School when it only had two classrooms; graduated from Elgin Academy in 1949; and in the early 1950's purchased the family business, Fox Valley Laundry, along with his cousin, Vern Oie, Jr. Robert also was proud of his Scottish heritage -- some of which included the Urquhart Family crest, the Urquhart Plaid, and the Urquhart Castle located in Loch Ness, Scotland.

Robert is survived by his wife, Charlotte June Burgess; children, Deborah White of Geneva, Diane Edwards of St. Charles, Brad (Elizabeth) Burgess of Lake in the Hills, and Margo (Joe) Fordonski of Aliso Viejo, CA; step-children, Scott (Julie Kistler) Johnson of Bloomington, IL, Craig (Tami) Johnson of Heyworth, IL, Jeff (Adie) Johnson of Boulder, CO, and Linda (Dave) Maes of Wellington, CO; fourteen grandchildren, Patrick White III, Preston (Brandi Zipsie) White, Emily White, Jonathan Edwards, Andrew, Matthew and Alison Fordonski, Olivia Burgess, Matthew (Emily) Johnson, Kenny (Lauren) Johnson, Catherine Johnson, Nicoletta, Sophia and JoElla Maes; five great grandchildren, Ashlyn, Anistyn and Maddox White, Colton Hinds and Lillian White; and a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Burgess of Colorado Springs, CO.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margery C. Burgess; grandsons, Peter White and Christopher Fordonski; son-in-law, Charles Edwards; parents and brother, Warren "Pete" Burgess.

Visitation will be held 3-6 pm, Sunday, September 9th, with a funeral service at 6 pm, held at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, (corner of Rt. 64 and Rt. 25), St. Charles, IL, with Pastor Adie Johnson officiating. Burial will be private.
