My father was born in Jacksonville and his family would move to Tampa when he was 3 yrs old. He grew up in Tampa and went to H.B.Plant High School and graduated in 1949. He joined the Army and was a memeber of the 82nd Airborne. He later met my mother Betty Sue McCreary and they were married in 1960. They would later move to Jacksonville due to a job transfer with Gulf Oil Corp. They would raise their family there. He worked for Gulf Oil until he became an owner/operator of the Gulf Station at Dunn Ave and I-95. He started Dunn Ave Gulf Wrecker service which he owned and later changed to Dunn Wrecker Service. After the business closed he went back to driving a truck and it was doing that in how he lost his life. He was killed in a traffic accident in Ruskin, Fl on Feb. 11, 1991. I miss my father each day that has passed. He never met a stranger as he was able to talk to anyone and them to him.
