His second wife was Catherine's older sister Bridget (Delia) Farley. Bernard and Delia had seven children, including his first wife's child. After Delia passed away in 1919, shortly after her last child was born, Catherine, as was traditional in Irish families, helped to care for the children until they were grown. Patrick, the second eldest Carolan boy is also included in the gravesite of Catherine.
