A former county farmer, James Henry McDanel, died on Thanksgiving day at his home in Garland after an extended illness. He was the father of James McDanel, market manager of City Grocery.
Mr. McDanel came here in 1939 and farmed at Loco and near Wellington until 1955, when he moved to Garland.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Lena May McDanel, of Garland; four daughters and five sons: Mrs. Doris Preston and Mrs. Irene Seals of Garland; Mrs. Bernice Kipps of Long Beach, CA; Mrs. Marilyn Thener of Dallas; James McDanel of Wellington; Hugh McDanel of Fort Worth; M.F. McDanel of Compton, CA; Billy R. McDanel of Dallas; and J.D. McDanel of Garland.
Other survivors are two brothers and three sisters: Tommy McDanel of Washington; Argyle McDanel of California; Mrs. Mary Smith of Clovis, CA; Mrs. Myrtle Preston of Paris, and Mrs. Lennie Wagger of Colbert, OK.
There are 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
