Homegoing celebration for Edna Ruth Knight, 71, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Friendship Baptist Church Overseer Delbert Allen officiating.

Mrs. Knight was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013.

Interment will be at Highland Cemetery under direction of Howard-Harris Funeral Services.

She was born Aug. 30, 1941, in Hobart, to Richard Stinson and Rosetta Johnson. She attended Dunbar School in Hobart from grades 1 through 10, and graduated from Douglass High School in Lawton in 1960. Some of her hobbies were cooking and fishing. As a young adult, she attended St. James Baptist Church under the pastorship of the Rev. Perry Clay, where she was on the usher board and sang in the choir. She later joined the Church of the Living God PG&T under Bishop Collins Allen. She finally united with the Church of the Living God CWFF in Frederick, under the late Bishop E.L. Bowie.

She worked as an in-home support services homecare provider for many years. She also worked at Ryan's Moving storage as a personnel worker at Fort Sill, and held numerous other jobs throughout her lifetime.

Edna Ruth was known throughout her neighborhood by family and friends. She helped everyone. You always knew if you were hungry, you could go to Edna Ruth's house and she would give you a home-cooked meal and a place to sleep, if needed. She was the type of woman who always spoke her mind, and wasn't afraid to tell you exactly what she was feeling. And people appreciated her for that.

Survivors include her mother, Rosetta Johnson, Long Beach, Calif.; two sons: Larry and Teresa Lawson, Smithville, Ga., and Richard and Peaches Stinson, Lawton; two daughters: Cynthia Williams and Latrice Knight, both of Lawton; four brothers: Leagues Williams, Waco, Texas; Charles Richardson, Oakland, Calif.; Raymond and Cheryl Richardson, Tulsa; and Clifford and Elsie Johnson, Long Beach, Calif.; a beloved sister, Stella Johnson, Long Beach, Calif.; grandchildren: Carlos Bradley, Teresa and Dashea Pollard, Larry Russell, Jamine, Brianna and Richard Stinson Jr., Jaktan Cook, Christopher Howell, Elijah Washington, Taylor Williams, Satin, Jamal and Alicia Smith; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Stinson; her long-time companion, Willie Beaty Jr.; a sister, Katrina Ann Miller-Horne; two brothers: Rickey Miller and Bennie Earl Johnson; a son, Quintin Lee Johnson; a daughter, Roseanna Marie Johnson; and two great-granddaughters: Kaydence and Kamiyla Young.
