Nelson and Mary Allis and some of the children went out west in a wagon but came back to North Carolina.

When Mary Allis died, he left the children with relatives and went back out west again.

Word came back that he had remarried and had a child or children, but he had not told them about his first family. Son, Cratus Delbert Bailey, went out west for a visit and pretended to be his father's brother.
