From "One Thousand Years of Hubbard History..." by Edward Warren Day, 1895 p. 213:

"John Hubbard (c.1630- Aug 1706) eldest son of George and Mary (Bishop) Hubbard, was born in England about 1630 and came an infant with his parents to America in 1633. It is claimed by some of his descendants that he lived a few years in Concord, Mass., with the Merriams, relatives of his wife, Mary Merriam. If so, he removed afterward to Wethersfeld, for his first four children were born there. The Connecticut colonial records show that "at a meeting of Goodman Ward's house April 18, 1659, the Company there met engaged themselves under their own hands to or by their deputies to move out of the colony into the jurisdiction of Massachusetts." Some thirty persons signed this agreement, but not all of them kept it. A settlement was accordingly begun at "Norwottuck" (Hadley, MA) with Rev. John Russell, Jr., as the spiritual leader and governing power of the band. With them went John Hubbard and his family of four children and wife Mary (Merriam) Hubbard, formerly of Concord, Mass., who he must have married about 1648-1649 at an early age. He was made freeman March 26, 1661, and had five children born in Hadley. After 1672 he went to Hatfield, and died there at the home of his son Isaac in 1702. His will, probated in August, 1702, showed seven children then living, Mary and Hannah having died. Children-- Mary, John, Hannah, Jonathan, Daniel, Mercy, Isaac, Mary and Sarah."

[Note that the Lowell Vital Records show John and Jonathan, sons of John and Mary (Merriam) Hubbard, were born about 1656 and 1658 in Lowell.]One of the original 59 citizens that signed the agreement Apr 18, 1659 at Goodman Ward's home in Hartford to settle at Hadley, Mass.
