Marcia Louise Mullett Richmond, 86, of Beaver, died peacefully in her home
January 2, 2013.

Born in Bellaire Ohio, May 17, 1926, Marcia grew up in the town of Bellaire, Ohio, on a farm outside of town. Her father, William Mullett, was a telegraph operator for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, while her devout mother, Leona Gatts Mullett, raised three sons and twin girls. Marcia and her twin sister walked four miles each day to attend a one room elementary school. She was a member of the Campfire Girls, and a pitcher on the softball team. Marcia then graduated from Bellaire High and went directly to Ohio State University where she worked her way through to a BS in education and met her husband, Thomas Richmond, of Columbus, Ohio, through her participation in the Wesley Foundation. Marcia received her Masters from West Virginia University where she was elected Kappa Delta Pi. Marcia called on her strong faith and great strength to carry on after her mother was tragically killed by an automobile, and her father died from diabetes, both while Marcia was still in college.

In 1960, she established a career in the Beaver School District where she retired as a much loved elementary teacher after 20 years. She joined Beaver Park Church in 1961 and remained a cherished member serving many church offices. Marcia was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Century Club serving as president of both. She was a founder of the Beaver County League of Women Voters. Marcia was an avid tennis player and rated well in Beaver County Amateur competition in the 1960's.

Her husband and she both enjoyed summers off, and took the family RV traveling all over the country, visiting all the National Parks from Main to California. She loved to spend the weekends camping at Atwood Lake, Ohio, where the family kept a pontoon boat. She put both her sons through college and financed her son Keith's real estate ventures including a large farm in Andover, Ohio. Marcia traveled to Europe twice and cruised to Alaska. In her retirement, Marcia visited shut ins, nursing home residents and retired teachers almost every day, and volunteered for the Beaver Women's Center. Following a stroke in 2006, she was cared for by her sons, David and Keith Richmond and Sandra Rich of Beaver.

She is survived by her sons, her twin sister, Marjorie Myers of Moon Township, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. in the NOLL FUNERAL HOME INC, 333 Third Street, Beaver. A funeral service will be conducted, Monday at 11 a.m. in the Park Presbyterian Church, Beaver, by her pastor, Rev. Mark Boyd. Interment will follow at the Beaver Cemetery.

Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.

Memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to Park Presbyterian Church, 275 Commerce St., Beaver, PA 15009.
