Viva (Nicks) Munch Rehpohl, 96, of Wenatchee and Cashmere, WA, passed away December 31, 2012. She was born to parents, Nevil Nicks and Rosa (Richardson) Nicks on September 14, 1916. Viva's father was a brick man and spent time both in Wenatchee and California for his work. On one of many trips back to Wenatchee, mom decided it was time to enter this world, so Ephrata it was. She received early schooling both in Wenatchee and California and had many fond memories of friendships she made during those years. Viva married Guy Munch on June 1, 1935. A son, Connie, and daughter, Dianne, were born to this union. During the World War II years, the family lived in Bremerton, where Guy worked in the shipyards and mom did her part by cooking in a large childcare center, while the children's mothers were working in the factories. After returning to Wenatchee, Viva's working career was varied; she was a favorite waitress at the Cascadian Hotel, Elks Club and other restaurants in the Valley. Viva owned a millinery store in Tyler's Ladies' Wear (several women in the Valley are still wearing her great leather gloves). Viva spent many happy years at the Owl Drug and finished her working career at the Eye and Ear Hospital and Clinic. Mom was an accomplished seamstress, making all of Dianne's school clothes, granddaughters' Christmas and Easter outfits, prom dresses and dresses for any special occasion that came along. Her crocheted and knit pieces are family treasures. She was a wonderful cook and the family believes that her apple pie and fried chicken and gravy were the best to be found. Guy passed away in 1961, and Viva later married Clifford Rehpohl. They had many happy years together, enjoying the blended families. Cliff's Christmas morning sausage and pancakes were worth getting up early for.

Viva is survived by her daughter, Dianne Munch (Chet) Slack; son, Connie (Patricia) Munch; five grandchildren, Cindy (Roger) Anderson, Scott Slack, Monica (Dean) Greve', Michael Munch and Melinda (Mike) Gleason; two great-grandchildren, Tanner Greve' and Max Gleason; a very special and beloved sister-in-law, Helen Clements; step-children, Donna (Harry) Sanford and Bob (Charlotte) Rehpohl; several beloved nieces and nephews; and many step-grandchildren. Viva was preceded in death by brothers, Buster and Con Nicks; and husbands, Guy Munch and Clifford Rehpohl.

The family wishes to thank Epledalen Assisted Living and Cashmere Convalescent Center for their loving care in the last years of mom's life.
