He served in the War of 1812. A brass plaque was placed on stone covering by the Old Campbell Co.Historical Society in April 1978 which gives the death date as ca. 1859 and states "he was the first person buried in Fairburn Cemetery" even though there are 2 other graves which bear earlier death dates. The military marker put on his grave gives a more correct death date of 1853.
