Wilma J. Anderson Gaines Wallace, 89, passed away at 9:33 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Bethalto Care Center. Born May 13, 1923 in White County, she was the daughter of William and Miriam (Curtis) Anderson. Wilma married Joseph Glen Gaines June 26, 1953. He passed away Sept. 24, 1966. She later married William Wallace in January of 1983. He also preceded her in death Aug. 5, 2005.
Wilma was a member of Whitelaw Avenue Baptist Church in Wood River, and her home church was Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Carmi.
Survivors include a daughter, Glenna Ricci and a son, Mark (Brenda) Gaines, all of East Alton; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Ricci, Kyle (Carrie) Gaines and Kayla (Kevin) Yost; two sisters, Phyllis G. Dudley of Ocala, Fla. and Nina M. Cozart of Carmi; and two brothers, John H. Anderson of Norris City and Gary L. Anderson of Carmi.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Pete (Lois) Anderson.
Private services were held Thursday, Dec. 13 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights. Burial was at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
