Rev. Roy F. Pennington February 19, 1915 - September 14, 2012 Rev. Roy F. Pennington, 97, Bakersfield, California, died Friday afternoon in Bakersfield after a brief illness. Rev. Pennington was born on February 19, 1915 in Bee Branch, Arkansas. He was married to Emogene Jennings on July 10, 1937 in Bee Branch. He served in the United States Navy during WW II. They moved to California where they owned an orchard in Empire prior to Rev. Pennington going into the Ministry. He was an ordained Minister with the Assemblies of God having pioneered churches in Empire and Orcutt, California. He Pastored churches in Tulelake and Cutler, California. Rev. Pennington was also an evangelist for several years. Rev. and Mrs. Pennington moved to Wenatchee, Washington in 1971 to assist in the Family owned Betts Funeral Home. He served as the Disabled American Veterans State Commander for the State of Washington while residing in Wenatchee. The Pennington's moved to Bakersfield, California in 1986 and had since made Bakersfield home. Mrs. Pennington passed away in March of 2000. Rev. Pennington is survived by his Son, Chuck Pennington and wife, LaDonna of Scottsdale, Arizona; 4 Grandchildren, Scott Pennington and wife Julie of San Diego, California; Rev. Steven Pennington and wife Trina of Nairobi, Kenya; Suzi Thomas and husband Eric of Kent, Washington and their Mother Fran Glessner, Bakersfield; Jennifer Sumlin, Bakersfield; Step Grand Son Brian Bigham and wife Cammie of Spokane, Washington; and step Grand daughter Lori Tutor and husband Christian of Montecito, California; 12 Great Grandchildren. Rev. Pennington was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters. Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, September 20th, 11:00 am at Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson, California Memorial Contributions may be made to the Assemblies of God World Missions, Rev.
