MORDECAl SCOTT KILLED IN THE
WOODS NEAR DELPHI.
Mordecai Scott, a farmer of near Yeoman, Carroll county, was killed Monday by a falling tree. Scott, with his helper, Charles Myers, were cutting down a large tree, but as is often the case, the tree did not fall in the
direction expected. Both tried to get out of the way, but Scott stumbled over a small hickory sapling and the tree fell across his back, crushing him badly. Myers released him and assisted the injured man to his wagon
and drove him to his home, where Dr. J. B. Shultz, of this city, was summoned. However, his injuries were so bad that he died several hours afterward. He was 42 years old and well known in Logansport.
