Duchesne, Utah-Laura Maud Lowe, age 90, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012 in a Provo hospital.
She was born March 27, 1922 in Elm Creek, Nebraska to August and Maude Maas. Laura married Sam Lowe, June 9, 1943, in Long Beach, California.; he preceded her in death August 1987. Laura retired from the Department of Social Service, but also had many trades & jobs in her and Sam's travels.
In 1992, Laura moved to Duchesne, Utah on Pinion Ridge with Robert "Bob" Brown, where she served on the Pinion Forest Special Service District; Robert preceded her in death in November 2007.
Laura never had any children, but was Mom and Gramma to everyone she met. In June of 2008, Laura opened her heart and home to John & Tonnie Brown to help them get their start on the Ridge, as she did to all who knew her. "We are all going to miss her very much!"
Laura is survived by four nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert; three sisters, Ethel, Myrtle and Esther.
A Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, January 5, 2013, from 2-4 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street. A Memorial Celebration will be Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Laura's place on the Ridge at 2:00 p.m. She will be buried at Moreland Cemetery in Idaho. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gateway Senior Center, P.O. Box 685, Duchesne, UT 84021. (In honor of Laura Lowe, where she loved to play Bingo!)
