Son of William Francis Palmer and Caroline Dulaney. He married Sarah Rankin 6 July 1803 in Sumner County, Tennessee. Parents of 13 known children.
The records show that William Palmer served in the War of 1812 as a private in Capt James A Black Company of Infantry, Third (Roulston's) Regiment, West Tennessee Militia from 1814 to May 13, 1815. Records indicate that this Regiment was in the expedition to New Orleans, the transpotation paid on the baggage of Wm Palmer from Wharton, Louisiana to Tennessee. Nothing further relative to this man has been found. Adjutant Gen H T McCain.
He lived and died on his farm east of Lebanon, near Linwood. He and Sarah are buried there along with numerous other family members.
