Herbert Lee Lang, 77, of Kerrville, TX passed from this life after a long, hard fought battle with COPD on Thursday, December 13, 2012. He was born on January 6, 1935 to Arthur Charles and Matholde (Fritz) Lang. Mr. Lang is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Nickoline, Delamae, and Gladys; brothers, Robert Lang, Monroe Lang, Charles Lang, and baby Lang. Herbert grew up in Harper and enlisted in the United States Marines after high school graduation. He served 4 years in the Corp with 18 months of that time served in Korea. The Marines helped Herbert to hone his skills as a master carpenter. There was nothing Herbert could not build, design, or repair. He was always there for everyone, especially his family. If anyone needed a home built or a door properly hung, Herbert was there and many times asked for nothing but a hot meal, a cookie, and good conversation. All of his sister-in-laws knew they were his "favorite," especially if they cooked a hot meal or baked a cake for him. Herbert had a rare quality that you don't find in many people, he never said an unkind word about anyone and if someone spoke ill of others, he would, with his own brand of humor, help them see the good side of the person or the situation. Those left to left to honor and cherish his memories and deeply miss him are his three children. Herbert also leaves behind his brothers and sister, their wives and husband. He is also survived by three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Herb and will miss him dearly. Herbert goes with a full heart to be with his Lord, knowing that he did his best, loved his family, his country, and his God. In lieu of floral tributes, memorials may be made to Herbert's daughter, Tammy Lang Henry to assist with funeral expenses. Memorial Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 21, 2012 in the sanctuary of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Boerne, TX. He will be laid to rest with his military family at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of the professionals at Kerrville Funeral Home. (830) 895-5111
