CHAPIN - Services for L.D. "Jack" Haltiwanger, 98, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery and Gardens, Columbia. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the church prior to the service. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mr. Haltiwanger died Thursday, January 3, 2013. Born in Peak, SC, he was a son of the late Wilbur Louis and Carrie Koon Haltiwanger. He was an Army veteran of WWII and retired from Unocal Oil Company. He was a member of Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Margaret Fulmer Haltiwanger; daughters, Judy Galloway (Brooks) of Irmo, Linda Krause (Maxie) of Greer; grandchildren, Ryan Galloway (Cathy) of Lexington, Kevin Krause of Greer, and Jennifer Leach (Fred) of Chapin; greatgrandchildren, Elliott and Mackie Leach, Shelbey Jumper; and sister, Adelaide Jones (Hugh) of Little Mountain. He was predeceased by two brothers and six sisters.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church, 101 East Boundary St., Chapin, SC 29036.
