Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley. Burial is at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
The former Edith Mae Beard was born Oct. 7, 1930, in Buena Vista, Va., the daughter of Harry and Bertha Garner Beard. She married Leo F. Williams on May 21, 1953, in Buena Vista.
Edith was a Girl Scout leader, helped with the Boy Scouts and was an active member of Faith Evangelical Church, Moline, where she was involved in the Women's Bible Study and Bible school.
She was a polling-place judge for Rock Island County, and liked to read and do word puzzles. She was a faithful Chicago Cubs fan. Edith and her husband enjoyed traveling, taking many bus trips around the country. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends.
Edith is survived by her husband of 59 years, Leo; children, Fred and Aletha Williams, Taylor Ridge, Patricia and Ronald Jones, Santaquin, Utah, Harry and Tomah Williams, Brighton, Ill., Linda Ridnour, Coal Valley, and Robert and Shelley Williams, Rock Island; 15 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a brother, Harry Beard Jr., Denver, Colo. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Williams; and sisters, Evelyn and Thelma.
