Mrs. Geo. Douwstra Funeral Friday At Trinity Ref. Church
Mrs. George Douwstra, wife of the late Rev. Douwstra who served several churches in Sioux County, died Monday night from a heart attack at the apartment of her sister, Mrs.
Nellie Luymes, where she had been staying since October. Mrs. Douwstra was a resident of Holland, Mich.
Mrs. Douwstra, nee Gertrude De Jong was born at Orange City Nov. 1, 1880, daughter of the pioneer settlers, Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit De Jong.
She graduated from Northwestern Academy and married in l898 to Rev. Douwstra, who died several years ago.
Survivors include two children, Howard of Holland, Mich.and Frowena, Mrs. Gordon Korstanga, Belleview Mich.; and two grandchildren; two brothers, Peter and George, two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Aalberts and Mrs. Luymes, all of Orange City.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 at Trinity Reformed church, Rev. Colenbrander of 1st Ref. church officiating. Burial will be in the Orange City cemetery.
