NOBLE EDWARD "BUBBY" AUVIL, age 87 years, a resident of the Brushy Fork Community, St. George, WV, departed this life early Sunday morning, December 30, 2012 at his home with his devoted daughter, Paula at his bedside. He had been in declining health for the past year and critical health for the past three months.
He was born Wednesday, March 25, 1925 at the old Henry Shaffer Place at St. George, WV, a son of the late Clarence James Auvil and the late former Sarah Kathryn Poling. He was twice married. On February 10, 1951 at Red House, MD, he was married to the former Grace Marie Waybright, who preceded him in death during 1979, and second to the former Kathleen Cox, who preceded him in death June 12, 1999.
Surviving are four sons, David Edward Auvil and wife Geraldine of Shinston, Tim Layn Auvil of St. George, Keith Auvil of Parsons and Danny "Bus" Auvil and wife Windy of Oceana, New York; two daughters, Sue Knotts and husband Greg of Sugarlands, Paula Kay Bolyard of Philippi; three sisters, Sylvia Boyles and Caroline Poling, both of Philippi and Nellie Ruth Auvil of St. George; thirteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death are one son Roger Lee Auvil; five brothers, Wayne Auvil, Robert Auvil, John Auvil, Walther Auvil and Junior Auvil; and five sisters, Nora Poling, Goldie Wilson, Lettia Dumire, Laura Poling and Pearl Wratchford.
He attended the one room Wolfe Run School at Jonathan Run. He was a former employee of Dumire Lumber Company, working as a Woodsman for over forty years. He was a member of the Brushy Fork Church of the Brethren for many years.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Friday, January 4th, 2013 at 1:30 PM. Rev. Pat Cassidy will officiate and interment will follow at the Pifer Mountain Cemetery at St. George, WV.
