John, of Old Salem, passed away Thursday at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.
A native of Mississippi and former resident of Bridge City, he had lived in Old Salem Community since 1977 and was a retired oiler in the Merchant Marine. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Iva Snell; two daughters, Debra Kay and Randy Fults, and Tracey and Joe Stidham; two grandchildren, Jerid Stidham and Joshua Fults; and one great granddaughter, Destiny Stidham.
Funeral services will be at Trout Creek Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Trout Creek Cemetery, under the direction of E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville.
