She lived with her family in Bettsville until graduating from high school in 1934. After High School , she attended Tiffin University. In 1937 she married John A. Hoover III. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage together. After living in Tiffin and Fostoria, she and her husband returned to Old Fort where they owned and operated Hoover's Store until 1959. From 1964 through her retirement in 1985, her professional passion focused on providing equal education to the children of farm labor workers in the Old Fort School District. She was recognized statewide as a leader in developing oral language skills for children who had English as a second language. In retirement, many of her students continued to thank her for her impact on their lives. She was a member of Old Fort United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, organized many lawn fetes and chicken suppers and where her homemade noodles were enjoyed by many.
