ELEVATOR TAKES LIFE AT DUNDEE

Veteran Dies When Caught in Shaft

When he was caught by a moving freight elevator at the Hudson-Duncan plant, Dundee, Oliver DeLoss Arms, 39, recently discharged veteran of World War II, received a crushed chest Monday night, resulting in probable instant death.

Arms had been employed at the Dundee plant for only 21 days and was "filling-in" for a relative who was ill.

His body was found by fellow employees about 7 o'clock Monday evening. There were no witnesses to the accident, but it was believed that Arms fell beneath the elevator which he had been loading; it was reported by the county coroner.

He was born and lived at Dayton for 25 years. He later moved to Jerome, Ida., whrer he made his home for 10 years prior to entering the armed services in August 1942. He was discharged from the army in April of this year and had returned to Oregon just three weeks ago.

He is survived by a brother, Arthur W. Arms at Dayton and a sister, Mrs. Ona A. Churchman, Newberg.

Funeral services were held here Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Macy & Son chapel and burial was made in Brookside cemetery, Dayton. The Rev. S.J. Osborne officiated.
