Mrs. Truman was an encyclopedia of information. When the war broke out, her whole heart was in the Union cause. She was President of the Women's Aid Society" and her house was a depot for the reception, packing and shipping of articles made and contributed for the Soldiers by the women in Lebanon.
For about 44 years, Mrs. Truman cared for lame, sick, blind or insane persons.
