As she followed her husband to Kansas during his service to our country in the Army Air Corp, she returned to Lock Haven and worked for Grossman's clothing store. Later, she worked as a teacher's aide for the then Special Services unit helping children with learning disabilities. For many years, she was the office manager and all-round secretary for their family business - Love's Disposal. When she retired, she loved to sit on her front porch swing and she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and reading. But most of all, she looked forward to caring for and spending time with her family.
Mary was very proud of her family, and if you would ask any one of them what was one description they would have of their mother/grandmother/sister...collectively they would fondly say "brutally honest, and gruff yet very soft." She is survived by her three sons, Laverne (Sheila) Love, Gayle (JuneAnn) Love, and Wayne (Cindy) Love, all of the Swissdale area, her sister Virginia Smith, a sister-in-law Mary C. Love, 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brother, William Lewis Phoenix.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 11 A.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745 with Pastor James Redmon officiating.
