Sy Matthew Sherman, 10, of Salinas, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012, at his home. He was born March 20, 2002, in Fremont.
Sy loved playing video games, and especially playing with his Legos. He was fondly known as a "Lego Maniac". He also enjoyed playing sports, watching boxing matches and traveling.
Sy is survived by his mother, Maritsa B. Gomez of Hollister; brothers, Cisco and Sabas Jauregui; sister, Luisandra Jauregui; his father, Matt Sherman and Veronica Amaya of Salinas; paternal grandparents, Craig and Rhonda Sherman of San Jose; paternal great-grandmother, Charlotte Stolback of Clayton Valley; maternal grandparents, Frank and Cindy Gomez of Manteca; numerous aunts, uncles,cousins, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Seymour "Sy" and Helen Sherman and Jack Stolback.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 1 to 9 p.m., with a Rosary recital at 7 p.m., all at the Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas, CA 93905.
A Funeral Mass will take place Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10 a.m., at Madonna del Sasso Catholic Church, 320 E. Laurel St., Salinas, CA 93906.
