Lester O. Cammack, age 80, of Elwood, formerly of Mokena, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Lester served in the Navy aboard the USS Silverstein during the Korean Conflict and he retired from Argonne National Laboratory after 39 1/2 years. Lester was a true outdoorsman and handyman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles, auto racing and good western movies.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Phyllis (nee Krejca), his children; Laura (Steve) Hackett of New Lenox, Allen (Lynda) Cammack of Manhattan, and Linda (Jeff) Koopman of Wilmington, his grandchildren; Stephanie (Brian) Pohlman, Natalie Hackett, Valerie (Matthew) Hawkins, Kelley Cammack, Kimberly (fiancée Drew Wendt) Cammack, Scott Cammack and Payton Koopman, his great grandchild, Eastyn Pohlman, his brother-in-law, Edward (Lynn) Krejca, his sister-in-law, Vashti Cammack and numerous nieces and and nephews.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, Lester William and Bernice (nee Oliver) Cammack, his brothers, Terry Lee and Larry Roy, and his sister, Marilyn Bernice Kellogg.

Funeral services: Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10:00am at Forsythe Funeral Home. Visitation Thursday from 3-7:00pm.

Interment: Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.

Arrangements: Forsythe Funeral Home, 507 S. State St. (Rt. 52), Manhattan, Illinois.
