Jay Evertt Peters, 78, of Wellsboro and formerly of Hanover, entered into God's eternal care Sunday, December 30, 2012 at The Samaritan House in Wellsboro, PA. He was the husband of Bernardine Irene (Phaffenbach) Peters, who died December 4, 2010. Born September 23, 1934, in Baltimore, MD he was the son of John and Gertrude (Kleintank) Peters. Jay worked as a clerk with Social Security for many years. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Wellsboro and of Sacred Heart Basilica in Hanover, American Legion in Mt. Airy, MD and the Amvets in Hanover. Jay proudly served his country in U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict. Surviving are two children: Dawn M. Krefski and her husband Michael of Wellsboro and John E. Peters of Statesboro, GA; three grandchildren: Jessica Krefski, Michael Krefski Jr. and Kristine Peters. A Memorial Mass will be held 1 pm. Friday at Sacred Heart Basilica, in Hanover, with Rev. John Chmill officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hanover
